I write with great urgency and a need for secrecy.
Over the last twelve months, the Heartlands have been
invaded by the nation of Akari; from prince to pauper they
have killed our people without discrimination and without
warning. Our circles have been tainted and invasion forces
placed on our lands.
Retaliation has been of mixed success; we have cleansed a
few circles of the Wraith-Touch, we have won minor
skirmishes, we have shown we have the ability to strike
deep in their territory; but many fine beings have already
been lost to these world-traitors and it is likely more will
fall in the months to come.
At the Gathering, Akari forces took the island of Elvas,
which was granted to the Healers Guild by the Gryphon
nation. Several years ago a warband containing
representatives of many factions and guilds drove the lich
Gogul from the island and the Guild named me Baron and
protector of the isle. I have failed in my duties; now the
innocent people of Elvas are again under the yoke of an
invader, for no other reason than their association with
me.
This Spring I will take up arms to free Elvas once more;
from the shores to forest their presence will be purged and I
invite the Guilds to hold council on its free soil.
I would be honoured if you would stand at my side in the
fight to come. Let us show them that against a common
foe, the Heartlands can put our squabbles aside and when
we do there is nothing that we cannot achieve and no
enemy that can stand in our way.
