Camp Safety

Players should be aware that the Lorien Trust has issued the following instructions in respect of camp safety at mainline events. These rules are taken extremely seriously and willful disregard for them could result in Site Main Security asking players to leave the event.

Fire Prevention Safety

• There should by a minimum gap of 2 feet between tents.
• Tents should preferably be able to be walked around without impinging movement or footing.
• Guy ropes from adjacent tents must not cross.
• Petrol is not to be used for igniting or fuelling fires.
• Cooking facilities must be pitched a minimum of 4 feet from tents.
• Cooking facilities (e.g. liquid fuel appliances) should be refilled in the open air.
• Keep flammables, including long grass, away from cooking areas and fire pits.
• Cooking should be carried out using serviceable gas appliances/contained facilities (e.g. barbecues), not open fires, and should be seated on either sand or hard-standing.
• No fires should be set, lit or maintained by individuals under the influence of alcohol.
• Candles and naked fames are not to be lit in OOC or IC tents due to the prevalent fire risk.
• Oil-based exterior lanterns are not be used either internally or externally due to the potential of oil splashing if they knocked over.
• Dispose of gas canisters as per manufacturers instructions. Gas canisters can be given to Site Main Security for disposal.

Fire / Fire Pit Safety

• Petrol is not to be used for igniting or fuelling fires.
• Fires must by lit only in the half-barrels provided.
• Fire half-barrels are to be seated on sand (provided).
• No fires should be set, lit or maintained by individuals under the influence of alcohol.
• Plastics, metal cans and/or other materials that issue toxic smoke when heated/burned must not be used as a fuel source.
• In the event of an incident, attempt to fight the fire only if safe to do so. Notify Site Main Security immediately of any incident, however minor.
• Fire pits are not to be left unattended while they are still lit. They must be extinguished before the last person leaves the location.
